All of the children at Safe Haven can inspire you once you've heard what they have been though in their short lives. Many have suffered through loss of family and loved ones due to AIDS, accident or political strife. Their strength and determination take them through each day and it is amazing to see them happy and smiling now. Here are some of their stories.

I remember before I was rescued. I survived with begging food my life was so in pain, why I had to pass through this pain at my tender age? I slept out in the cold several times because relatives chased us until one day I met daddy Steve and he took me in, immediately I entered safe haven I felt at peace the peace I feel up to now. Am doing very well in school and I believe I will join a very good high school to pursue my dream.
It looked like my life had come to an end when I lost both of my parents and I buried them the same day! As a small boy I could not see this coming. I am now at Safe Haven, together with my brothers Bismark and Clinton. I thank my sponsor for his support. In Safe Haven, I am in indeed in safe hands. ASANTE SANA
We lived in real poverty no food at times. Then I was told my mum is suffering from HIV/AIDS it was hard friends ran away from us we were despised. We begged for food to make matters worse I dropped school. One day Dad Steve was passing by our house when he just popped in our compound and the situation touched him, I saw him crying! I knew my help has come, he inquired about us and he told me to come to safe haven and after examining my case I was found needy and needed help so I was admitted to safe haven on July 2012 since then am dreaming Again! My life has real changed and next year I will be grade 8 final primary level yay! This far I couldn't make it by myself but God has brought to me a new family at safe haven and a great sponsor who has helped me through.
I never had an opportunity to feel the love of a mother! They told me that my mama died immediately after she gave birth to me. She was barely a high school girl who got pregnant. To make it worse my grandparents died leaving me in the mercy of my relatives. Luckily the sister to my grandmother took me as a baby and I grew up feeding on cow milk. God is good I grew up so healthy but life was hard because my grandmother was dependent of handouts. I remember I dropped out of school in grade 2 because we had no food and no school fees! I became village wanderer begging for food until one I bumped into Safe Haven children, and I liked the way they lived. I asked the chief and my grandmother to ask Steve to take me in. .. I kept on insisting until Dad Steve gave in and I was rescued and immediately I got a sponsor. My life has changed. I am now in school and I have the best care one can dream of! I remember boarding a vehicle to Kisumu the first time in my life... ASANTE Sana
